Thanks for joining me here for another dispatch of my twice-weekly music and menswear newsletter, which is different (but somewhat the same) as my daily style blog from which it gets its name. Thanks for reading!
Perhaps you expected a normal dispatch here at The Style Guide In Brief yesterday. And yet, life finds a way, or rather, deadlines pile up, appointments crowd the books and here we are with a special, irregular Sunday edition of this music-menswear newsletter by yours truly. I’m packing up for a special media trip to Bourbon Country (AKA Kentucky) early this week, and I’m also gearing up to interview, fittingly enough, a Midwest folk and pop-rock band for Atwood Magazine soon enough (pay close attention to my Instagram for more on both).
I talked in my last newsletter about my love of “Is This It” by The Strokes, which turns 20 this month — astonishingly enough. That’s always a safe and solid bet, but here are a few other surefire end-of-weekend bets for your reading and shopping enjoyment below. Thanks for reading and subscribing!
To listen this week: I’m always of the opinion that it’s never a bad time to listen to Wild Pink, the New York-based indie band led by John Ross — I chatted with him earlier this spring for Merry-Go-Round Magazine about one of my favorite albums of the year, if not my favorite!
To shop this week: Consider stocking up on rugged menswear aplenty at Howler Brothers, the Austin-based brand that makes everything from quilted shirt jackets to breezy short-sleeve shirts for winter getaways. I wrote all about the Last Chance Sale section on my regular style blog.
And one more shopping pick: Entireworld, founded by fashion industry vet Scott Sternberg, makes some of the best sweatpants and basics on the planet. And yet sadly, the brand is going out of business — I had to write about all the best menswear deals at Entireworld’s final sale. Read my latest for Fatherly to stock up on cozy fall basics aplenty.
So, we’ll wrap this up in quick succession here, but you can expect another dispatch from me in the land of bourbon early this week. Until then, stay stylish and keep your ear to the ground!
