July 4th might have passed, but I’m still here to lead things off in today’s (short) newsletter with an off-the-wall cover of an iconic song — it’s not The Boss, but The Replacements covering “Born In The U.S.A.” is still a pretty fitting choice for the holiday weekend. As you might have seen if you follow me on Instagram, I trekked down to Coney Island on the holiday itself to take in the sights and sounds of the iconic destination, and I did indeed imbibe plenty of beers at Coney Island Brewery. And of course, yes, I had a hot dog from Nathan’s Famous. It was a fitting and fun holiday weekend, and in the spirit of getting just a bit of time off from my menswear blog and my other writing pursuits for Maxim, AskMen, Fatherly and more, I’m also keeping today’s post short and sweet.
If you’re wondering what to listen to this week, here’s a trio of recent indie rock favorites from this newsletter just a couple weeks back. Wondering what to sip for happy hour later today? You could do worse than to use my discount code BEAU10 to get 10 percent off your order of $50 or more at Threes Brewing in Brooklyn (they ship to 20-plus states!). And if you need advice on what to shop, might I suggest checking out the new gear arrivals from Huckberry?
The San Francisco retailer is a consistent favorite of mine, and has been for years (I’ve also written about them on my daily style blog!). As to the rest of my agenda and my recommendations, I’ll have plenty more in the way of new style writing in the days ahead. I’m trying to cram in as much work as possible, too: Later this week, I’m heading back home to Michigan for a bachelor party weekend (congrats, Andrew!), so expect a brief dispatch from the road this weekend. In the meantime, give me a follow on Spotify for more music to power your week, and be sure to check back here in the days ahead for the latest, greatest menswear, tunes, beer and more. Cheers, folks!
