Well, my friends. The headline really does say it all, but I’ll keep on writing anyways. I’m getting out of Brooklyn this weekend and hitting the road on an idyllic upstate trip to the Eastern Catskills courtesy of heritage outfitter Eddie Bauer. Perhaps you recognize the brand for its 100 years of rugged outdoor gear? This trip is particularly special as the world gets back to normal, as I’ll get the chance to really test out some Eddie Bauer menswear and take in the scenery (more on that in a second) Now, if you’re not aware, my full-time gig aside from writing this music-menswear-craft beer newsletter revolves around covering the very best menswear and gear for sites like Maxim, plus my own blog, The Style Guide).
On that note, this trip is especially important. I’m heading on a solo mini-cabin retreat to stay at Getaway Eastern Catskills, a beautiful stretch of nature with personal, small cabins and just enough space to unplug. I’ve never stayed at a Getaway location, so I’m really thrilled by the opportunity. And that leads me to my main point today: As you might have guessed, we’re keeping this newsletter short and introspective today, as I tend to do from time to time when I (really, really try!) to unplug. It’s been one heck of a year and even quite a hectic six months, so I’m looking at this trip as a chance to catch my breath and get refreshed before heading into the rest of summer. It goes without saying that I also want to get refreshed for a fall season that’ll be jam-packed with live shows from the likes of CHVRCHES and many more!
I’ve got other summer trips planned, including two Michigan getaways, so I’m looking forward to shaking off some of that city rust sooner rather than later, getting in some good hikes and of course, enjoying a cold craft beer or two in the mountains. Again, you can check out my daily blog (that’s The Style Guide), and my work at sites like InsideHook in the meantime. Here’s to enjoying the great outdoors, staying safe and relishing the chance to really unplug. Thanks for reading, and we’ll see you back here on Tuesday with another free music and menswear dispatch. Cheers!
