Greetings, once again, from Up North here in Michigan. My stay in the Mitten State rolls along, packed with plenty of beer from Bell’s Brewery, plenty of lake-filled, sunny afternoons and a requisite helping of iced coffee and quality family time. We’ve spent the past few days exploring history Fishtown in Leland, and I also discovered a very useful, plugged-in Northport coffee shop, The New Bohemian Cafe. It was a very helpful home base for a rather major interview I conducted featuring a member of a band that’s been covered in this newsletter before… you fill in the blanks from there! And in the spirit of, say, Lorde scaling back her latest album, I’m also scaling back today’s newsletter in the spirit of some time off.
That’s not to say it’s been a completely scaled-back week, though. We also cruised around the Leelanau Peninsula on a winery bicycle tour (get the Cherryfest Cider at Sutton’s Bay Ciders for a refreshing palette cleanser if you need a break from wine). In the meantime, I’ve stayed busy listening to “Pressure Machine” by The Killers and writing about some Pure Michigan favorites, like the Shinola For Crate & Barrel home goods collection at Maxim (more of my work can be found here or on my daily style blog — again, you know the drill!). To listen this weekend, I’ll point you towards some Wild Pink, or that new album from The Killers — you can’t go wrong either way.
As for me: I’m heading downstate this weekend, but keeping my Michigan trip rolling through the next week in advance of a West Michigan weekend wedding (say that five times fast). Tune into a full dispatch of my music + menswear + craft beer newsletter next Tuesday. For now, I’ve got one last sunrise to catch! Cheers & thanks for reading — feel free to forward to a friend!
