Open on up the latest edition of The Style Guide In Brief, my twice-weekly music, menswear and craft beer newsletter, and step inside my world. I’ve been putting out this newsletter for just about a year now, so thanks for reading my dispatches on everything from Scottish post-punk rockers We Were Promised Jetpacks to classic bands like The Replacements, helped along by cold craft beer picks and fresh menswear recommendations. Just as with my Tuesday newsletter, which I kept brief in the interest of celebrating the holiday weekend, I’m keeping today’s dispatch short and sweet, too. After all, I’ve got to hit the road back home to Michigan shortly, where I’ll be spending some time lakeside in celebration of my friend Andrew’s bachelor party. Congrats, Andrew! I’m ready to enjoy some Lake Michigan sun and sand, and cold beer, of course.
I’ve been keeping plenty busy this week in the lead-up to the trip itself, though, including a recent new story I penned for L.A.-based culture Web site Merry-Go-Round Magazine! I got to interview the excellent Moontype, a great Chicago band I’ve covered in this very newsletter. They’re absolutely worth a listen, and I hope you enjoy that piece as much as I enjoyed writing it.
I’ll be back with a full newsletter on Tuesday, but in the meantime, you can check out more of my work at plenty of other places. As of this month, I’m writing about new music at The Line of Best Fit, a terrific U.K.-based publication for which I’m thrilled to be contributing! I’m also still diligently covering menswear, watches and whiskey at Maxim, and you’ll see my byline popping up regularly at Fatherly.com on beer and gear, as well. Hopefully that’s enough to keep you occupied this weekend in lieu of a full newsletter (I know it certainly keeps me busy!).
Head over to Twitter to give me a follow or check out my latest playlist on Spotify. Alright, everyone. That’s all I’ve got for you today, but if you want more reading still, you can head over to my daily style blog, and the reason this newsletter is called The Style Guide In Brief. Cheers and enjoy the weekend — I know I will!
